André always knew he was going to be a hairdresser. He began his career as an apprentice in his home town of Cambridge. Coming to London in 1989, he continued his training at Splinters in Maddox Street and then at Vidal Sassoon’s flagship Bond Street.

The restrictions of corporate life proved too much, so Andre moved on to work in various salons in South London to broaden his experience; finally becoming Manager of the very successful Ebony & Ivory Salon in Clapham. In 1992 the first André Pierre opened in Tower Bridge.

Only a few years later, the business moved to much larger premises in Brixton Town Centre, thanks to its rapid success!
